Incorporating Texture Into Floors
Did you know that adding a texture to a Cochran’s floor can change both the style and the color of the flooring? Here is a brief overview of the types of texture that Cochran’s Lumber offers to its customer.

Circle Saw Kerf
Imagine a saw machine lightly ‘kissing’ a wood floor, adding just the slightest amount of texture. The result is our Circle Saw Kerf method. By incorporating our circle saw kerf method, we transform ordinary white oak floors into extraordinary conversation pieces. Shown here is our custom English Chestnut stain on Live Sawn White Oak with added Circle Saw Kerf.
Band Saw
A more intense texture that Cochran’s offer is our Band Saw texture. Creating a dramatic, distressed look, a Band Saw texture gives the finish extra depth and weight. Shown here is our custom Whiskey Barrel stain on Live Sawn Hickory with added Band Saw texture.
Nylon Brush
This method is used for our reclaimed barn board. By lightly brushing our barn board, it removes the roughness that is common in reclaimed boards. Still allowing the rustic nature of the planks to shine, nylon brushing enhances the overall appearance of our reclaimed barn board. Shown here is our reclaimed barn board siding, installed on a kitchen ceiling.
Wire Brush
Wire Brushing is a labor-intensive process that creates a slightly distressed look to any new wood floors. Using a wire brush, the craftsman at Cochran’s Lumber lightly scrape every board, creating instant depth and slight texture to our character-rich wood floors.
